Our CP Innovation team is growing, and we’re on the lookout for an Trainee IT Innovation Consultant to join us. You’ll have the flexibility to work from one of our hub offices in Castle Donington or Birmingham.

 

We’re a close-knit team of 40, with backgrounds in everything from engineering and biotech to chemistry, IT, and even astrophysics. We support our clients in claiming R&D tax incentives and Patent Box relief, and we collaborate with a network of advisors including grant providers and patent attorneys.

About you...

As an IT Innovation Consultant, you’ll work with a wide range of IT and software clients, supporting them through the R&D claims process and beyond. Your day-to-day will include:

  • Supporting Delivery Leads on R&D claims, ensuring tasks are completed diligently and on time
  • Attending client workshops, taking notes, capturing actions, and contributing to discussions
  • Drafting technical project descriptions and CP Innovation reports
  • Performing costing calculations
  • Getting involved in practice development initiatives and team meetings
  • Developing your core skills in:
    • Oral and written communication
    • Project management and prioritisation
    • Excel (lookups, pivot tables, etc.)

We’ll give you a clear structure and expectations, but also the freedom to ask for help and grow at your own pace. You’ll be supported by everyone from your peers to our Partners.

  • A degree in IT, Technology or Computer Science
  • A process-driven mindset and analytical outlook
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to juggle tasks and prioritise effectively
  • A background or interest in IT/software
  • A willingness to try new things and grow
